However, there is this one fear which is more dreadful than all the other forms of fear and that is fear of failure.

  • The fear of failure drastically affects the process of rational decision making in the life of human beings and often leaves a person in the pool of confusion. Because of it, a person often afraid to take a risk in his life. As he suspects that if he will make a certain decision he may lose his money or job or loved one.

  • Finally, fear is the main culprit behind hindering the overall progress and development in a person’s life.

Now, as you know that fear is not desirable in a person’s life you need to learn the way to get rid of the fear of failure.

Unlearn the learned fear of failure.

First of all, you need to keep one thing in mind that all fears are learned. Nobody was born with fear. Your mind has been programmed to fear from certain things. For example, when you were a baby, you were told to fear the unknown persons. And because of this, even after you have grown up you still fear strangers. As a biological human evolves into a social one, he encounters many people, places, and situations in his life.

Now, all these people, places and situations have a huge impact on a person’s life. Similarly, a person’s attitudes, ideas, viewpoints toward life are hugely affected by the people he lives and interacts with and the places he visits or the situations he goes through. Therefore, fear of failure is nothing but a learned emotion. Now, what you have to do is unlearn the fear of failure by eradicating the underlying feelings of shame, despair, gloom, and discomfort arising out of failure.

 Confront your fear of failure.

There is an old adage ‘only the iron cuts the iron’. Hence, if you want to beat your fear of failure you need to confront it at first hand. Therefore, from now on whenever you fear the failure, you must not flee from the battleground. Instead, you should fight back. Because fighting your fear of failure has been the most effective strategy to cope up with it. Further, allow yourself to feel uncomfortable by the failure and don’t panic.

Understand that failure is part of success.

Success is not an end goal; instead, it is a continuous process.  Life is like a ‘ trial and error ‘method where you take a chance and you fail, then again you take another chance and repeat taking chances until you finally make it. Therefore, you should not be afraid of taking chance and failing at various modes of life. For illustration, one man in his late sixties started selling a chicken recipe which was invented by him. He heard 1009 “NO’s” before he heard his first “YES”. And that person is called ‘Colonel Sanders’. Imagine the level of perseverance and dedication displayed by him.

In conclusion, fear of failure is nothing but an illusion created into your mind, get rid of it to move forward in your life.
